It's Palm Sunday in the Orthodox faith - the day we mark the start of Holy Week leading up to Pascha (Easter). It's a wonderful week in the Orthodox faith celebrating Christ's arrival into Jerusalem.
And to the many home cooks I know - it's the start of a lot of planning, cooking, taste-testing and family time. It's truly a sight to behold. Powdered sugar is flying, red-stained hands still pulling eggs from their bath hop from one treat to the next.
Memories can be made anywhere - but some of our favorites are around the kitchen table. From the early years when YiaYia would break open the old recipe box handed down from her mother to now, when iPads glow in the corner with one sumptious morsel after another. Recipes bring back memories from yesteryear as a new generation learns to dip the kourambiethes in their sugary goodness.
We're still cooking and catering like crazy this Spring - but for this week, we take a moment to slow down and remember the gift that Christ gave us 2,000 years ago. Happy planning!
