For me, being an Greek Orthodox Christian, there is something special about September and the Ecclesiastical Year.
The Ecclesiastical Year is anything relating to the church or the clergy. I have been brought up with 4 characteristics: Worship (Liturgia), Fellowship (Koinonia), Service (Diakonia), and Witness(Martyria) and so have my children. As a child, I remember not only starting school - and the corresponding start to Sunday school – I also remember when the priest does a special blessing with basil and holy water to start out the year. When that blessing is done even now, I have a warm sense of belonging to my church and sense the invigoration of the year ahead.
This “fresh” time of year to me is special and motivates me to a new start. New starts motivate me to action. Not only do I get that boost in January – but again in September. A double blessing!
This year is no different. While Jim and I are empty nesters – we’ve opened our home to our niece. A girl in the house! Can you imagine!! One son back to school – the other starting a career path and making waves. And for me? Change and fresh and good and fun…all in store for the time ahead. I’m so thankful for what’s coming.
So what’s up?
Greek to Go is in the process of moving to a new location and sharing space with an amazing lady who owns a butcher shop, Grand Butcher. Her local meats, her attention to her craft and her excitement is invigorating. I’ll enjoy sharing space with her. AND! I cannot tell you how excited I am that I can share some more of Greek to Go on a daily basis.
The MSU Packaging Class is working with Greek to Go one more time to help us improve our baklava packaging. Again, I can’t tell you how much I learn from them and they learn from me. LOVE LOVE!!
But there’s more!
Greek to Go is also working on some new special gift items that would be great for hostess gifts for Thanksgiving, Christmas gifts or corporate gifts. We’re ramping up to have a fun variety of Greek to share with your friends. Yay!!
Hold on, not done yet! Greek to Go also has the pleasure of working with an awesome MSU graduate on her capstone project. She will be doing her project with us and will share her research, ideas and talent to always keep Greek to Go on the way to success.
Finally… the introduction of our new spanakopita and tiropita packaging that will be rolling out in stores in the coming weeks. We’ll have a snazzy new look and we hope to see the product fly off the shelves.
We’re so glad you’re here and along for the ride. With blessings of peace and joy to you all – hang on folks, here we go!
